Koichi Kawai, the son of a wagon maker, is the founder of the world famous Kawai pianos. Since 1927 Kawai has been building hand crafted pianos that arenot only innovative but also technologically advanced. In 1955 Kawai was succeeded by his son Shigeru Kawai who grew the company with a combination of hand-craftsmanship and technology – moving with the times whilst retaining their link to the historical reference of all Kawai pianos.
